Back in the Fall of 2008 when the economy started to turn for the worst, we posted a blog about how eating healthy will save you money, which is contrary to what most Americans believe. More than a year later with the economy still on everyone’s mind, it’s important now more than ever to remind you of this helpful fact: eating healthy will really save you money. It comes down to where you eat and what you eat. Members of Nutrition for You work with real nutrition experts …

There was a great article on the web today from Fooducate.com on “Mott’s is Watering Down Kidding Drinks“.
“They’ve [Mott's] introduced a line of juices for young children – Mott’s for Tots, with 40% less sugar, but 10% more expensive. Not a lot of food science went into this formulation. Mott’s simply replaced 40% of the juice with good old water. Marketing science – yes.”
This is a good article that first describes how fruit juice is really condensed fruit. You can frequently find four servings of fruit in a …

We are always researching products on the web to add them to our food database. One of our Weight Loss Challenge participants pointed out that we did not have Trader Joe’s spring mix in our database. In response I did a little research just to make sure it was all non starchy vegetables. If you need nutrition facts you can pretty much search for the name of your food with nutrition facts and you’ll find a nutrition label.
The first site that I visited (LiveStrong.com) surprised me. The nutrition …

“Overall, all the groups had significant weight loss and reduced their fat intake, but those in the phone group lost the most weight and had the greatest improvement in diet. There were no overall significant differences between the phone and internet groups and both groups that received counseling lost more weight than participants who …

Okay, of course not. But today when I was finishing up my morning workout at my athletic club I noticed something. I looked over into the lounge area and there was a huge tray of donuts there for the taking. Free of charge. Congratulations on a good workout it said! I couldn’t believe it.
Wow. I’ve talked about mixed messages before and how detrimental it is to your nutritional well-being. This is just one glaring example of how it can get out of hand. There are two things that …

The economy is something that is on everyone’s mind these days. In fact it’s pretty easy when looking at your expenses to consider dropping that gym membership, or putting off joining Nutrition for You to save money. It reminds me of a comment made by a friend of mine, “It’s expensive to eat healthy.”
It’s not.
In fact eating healthy will save you money. It really comes down to where you eat and what you eat. Members of Nutrition for You work with real nutrition experts on more than just …

As a co-founder and developer for Nutrition for You I am always trying to see what our competition is doing and to keep track of the latest trends with online companies. Not just other companies that are direct competitors, but with how other companies are packaging their services. One of the most common is Facebook. Today Facebook was in the news because one of their cofounders Duston Moskovitz and their “top engineer” Justin Rosenstein are leaving to create a new startup.
The reason this is important to Nutrition for …

Weight Watchers may be one of the largest and most recognizable brands on the web, but how does it measure up to Nutrition for You?
To answer that we have added a service comparison to the Nutrition for You web site. We felt it was important to document how Nutrition for You surpasses many of the better known weight loss brands out there today. We are very proud of the fact that we have addressed many of the deficiencies of other programs like Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, FitDay, eDiets, and …

Today I saw a television advertisement for orange juice. The new advertising slogan was Healthy, Pure & Simple.
The problem with labeling food as healthy is that too many people assume that a food labeled as healthy means they can eat as much as they want. For weight loss and weight management, this assumption is almost guaranteed to keep you from losing weight. A an 8 oz glass (1 cup) of pure orange juice has approximately 120 calories. Most people drink twice that much at a time in a …
